Contingent Badge Design Contest

The NSW Contingent executive invites entries in a competition to design the logo and badge for use by the contingent at AJ2013. The chosen design will be used on this website, on all contingent clothing and souvenirs, and on correspondence.

The winning design will be selected by the Contingent Leader in consultation with the Marketing Director, Contingent Executive and SSYC (State Scout Youth Council). The selection criteria will be based on the contest rules below.

Design Elements

The logo and badge must:

  • Utilise the stylised NSW outline (as shown at right). Colours may be changed to suit your design. You can download a larger version.
  • Predominately feature the NSW contingent colours of dark blue, light blue and gold (RGB: 260569, 76c2ee, f8c301).
  • Include the text elements:
    NSW Contingent
    23rd Australian Jamboree
    Maryborough Queensland     2013
  • Incorporate the Scouts Australia fleur de lys logo. Download it from here.

Design Criteria

Judging criteria will include how well the design

  • Invokes NSW and the Jamboree
  • Can be scaled to different sizes
  • Will work as:
    • a printed image,
    • a black and white image and
    • an embroidered badge
  • Can be adapted for light and dark backgrounds

Copyright

All entrants must:

  • Confirm that all elements in their design are copyright free. The winning entrant(s) will be required to provide provenance.
  • Assign copyright of the design to the contingent.

Eligibility

Entries are invited from all Scouts, leaders and other members of the Scouting community. (Non-uniformed supporters are welcome to enter.)

Contest Prize

The designer of the winning design will have their NSW Contingent fee (excluding the transport fee) paid by the Contingent.

Closing Date

Entries in the badge design contest must be received no later than June 30th, 2011.

How to Enter

Entries should be e-mailed to contest@aj2013.patroltent.com and should include:

  • The badge design (as a gif or png file),
  • your name,
  • your Scout troop, and
  • your appointment (Scout, leader, etc).
